One of the crucial industrial sectors in Indian economy is the plastic products industry. The sector has a large presence of small scale companies in the industry accounting for more than 50% turnover of the industry and employing about 0.4 million people. Approximately Rs 100 billion of fixed assets are invested in the plastic processing industry.
The total plastic consumption in India is around 15 million tonnes and is expected to go up to 25 million tonnes in the next seven years. India’s plastics exports posted a growth of 31.6% at $ 4.59 billion during the period Apr 18 - Sep 18 as against $ 3.48 billion in same period during 2017-18. The Indian plastics industry offers excellent potential in terms of capacity, infrastructure and skilled manpower. It is supported by a large number of polymer producers, and plastic process machinery and mould manufacturers in the country.
Indian Plastic Industry Is Expected To Grow By 25% YoY For The Next 5 Years. To further create more avenues for import, export and technological transfer in India, Plastics Export Promotion Council (PLEXCONCIL) has stepped ahead as one of the largest sponsor of the forthcoming CAP India 2019 (scheduled from 2nd – 4th December 2019).
